CHAS: The Health & Safety Accreditation
The Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme or CHAS, is a health and safety accreditation scheme for the construction industry, that is used as a pre-qualification during the tender process. It was devised to improve health and safety standards across the UK construction industry.
CHAS was a key developer of the Approved Code of Practice which supported the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, who set industry bench marks, provide assurance and reassurance, and offer best-in-class service s that are easy to use and cost effective.
The accreditation is important to Fire Glass UK, it allows the company to show buyers/suppliers in the construction industry that they and their staff are competent in regards to their Health & Safety obligations. Fire Glass UK completes an annual assessment, updating all statutory requirements and operative training, making the process easier by only having to pre-qualify once for potential clients, who will use the recognised scheme as part of the evaluation for tender.
