Keeping you up-to-date with internal news from our local branches, focussing on Safety, Quality and Service.
Fire Glass Midlands has had a few upgrades in their factory with an updated polisher and new dispatching trollies. A Schiatti polisher was introduced in the toughening area in Midlands. They have procured four new distribution trollies for their dispatching area to allocate them to individual vehicles and loading bays. Each trolley is given a vehicle run and picked or loaded to suit each day, making it easier for their drivers to locate their glass and load their vehicles – an organisational bonus to the dispatch area which will help provide a better service and eliminate any load errors.
Fire Glass North has undergone forklift truck and crane training to offer additional skills to the production team. Allowing more team members at the branch to operate the machines safely whilst providing opportunities for development within the Company.
Fire Glass UK has begun introducing Hybrid and Battery Electric vehicles into the company car fleet. While only a small number has been introduced so far to replace many of the older diesel cars in the company fleet, it is a step forward in the aim to reduce the environmental impact of our ever-growing vehicle fleet.
Training, Compliance and Development staff have been supporting Drivers and Dispatch staff on safe practices for loading and unloading vehicles, good driving habits and adhering to the various rules and regulations required of commercial drivers in both Light and Heavy Goods vehicles. Nearly 400 hours of internal training covering all aspects of Production, Quality, Safety and Delivery has been given since the start of the year.
