There have been significant investments in Fire Glass Scotland over the first five months of 2021, with new machinery being installed and a new accreditation for the branch.

New Machinery
A new vertical saw, cutting table for laminated glass and a racking system have been installed at the Edinburgh branch. The installation of this equipment will give the branch greater capacity in all areas of glass production and offer a better service to customers in Scotland. These investments will help the branch achieve its growth targets for 2021 and beyond.

Pilkington Fire Rated Units in Scotland
As of May 2021, the Scotland Branch is now fully accredited to produce Pilkington Fire Rated IGUs’. This capability now means the branch can offer fire-rated IGUs’ from all of the main glass manufacturers. With the help of Barry Lechat, SHEQ Manager, the branch was subject to an audit process relating to all IGU processes before the accreditation was achieved.
