Barcode asset tracking offers a cost-effective and easy way to manage and track physical assets. A barcode label and a reader enable stock and processes to be monitored to provide real-time reports.
The new barcode tracking system will be introduced and rolled out across all Fire Glass UK branches, with hopes it will all be running smoothly by the end of May – which is an exciting move forward for Fire Glass UK.
The barcode tracking system is linked to our current system – Gtrack, and will allow real-time production process monitoring.
Processing instructions for machinery such as saws, double edgers, CNC, benders and sealing lines can be loaded using a hand-held barcode reader, saving time on inputting by offering maximum efficiency and flexibility on the shop floor. A barcode is printed on the glass label or works order and scanned at every production point. Meaning all glass is traceable and easily located.
Barcode scanning can allocate order items to a particular stillage for delivery or part delivery. Once complete, the remaining items are allocated to a stillage at a later time or date and will have a separate delivery note.
The monitoring system is designed to be completely flexible, with easy processes to monitor manufacturing or production staff and daily targets – all of which can be viewed in real-time.
The new system will help the company to save time through progress checks, vehicle preparation, and product organisation, allowing every piece of glass cut to be logged.
The system aims to improve our production and customer service as part of The Fire Glass Promise on Safety, Quality and Service.
