WHAT IS TOUGHENED GLASS?

Toughened glass is a high quality clear float glass which is processed by controlled thermal treatments to increase it's strength compared with standard glass. It is fully recyclable and ideal for a variety of applications in the exterior and interior of buildings.

TYPICAL TOUGHENED GLASS USAGE

Any window that is within 300mm of any door must be safety glazed. Windows must be fitted with toughened safety glass where the window is within 800mm of finished floor levels internally. If the application requires the glass to be cut, shaped, drilled, scored or manipulated in any way, this must be done before the glass is tempered, as afterwards the glass will be too tough and will shatter. Due to its safety and strength, toughened glass can be used in most demanding applications, such as:
  • Shower Doors
  • Architectural Projects
  • Doors and Tables
  • Glass Balustrades
  • Splash Backs
  • As a component for Bullet Proof Glass
