WHAT IS A TYPICAL DAY AT FIRE GLASS LIKE FOR YOU?
Every morning I am up and out early to get to our Edinburgh Office before 6.40 am, so I have an early start to my working day. My role has changed significantly since the pandemic, where I was primarily out on the road daily, meeting with and catching up with our customers. I am now mainly office-based. I'm still involved in speaking regularly with our customers to help keep and maintain strong relationships. Still, now, in addition to this, I am responsible for quotes and quote chase ups, for all of the business enquiries coming into the Scotland branch.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT YOUR JOB?
The thing I like most about my job is relationship building with customers. I really enjoy speaking with them regularly and getting to know them. This helps with supporting product and service choices. It's challenging in the current enviornment but I am really looking forward to the day when I'll be able to do this in person again.
WHAT PARTS OF YOUR JOB DO YOU FIND MOST CHALLENGING?
The thing that is the most challenging in my job is time. Every day goes by at the blink of an eye. We are committed to our customers and want to provide the best service we can, whether it's quotations, queries or product selection.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE SOMEONE WHO IS SEEKING THE SAME LINE OF WORK?
I have been in this line of work for almost 3 and half years so was new to it all when I first joined. The advice I would give someone who wanted to follow the same route would be to embrace the opportunity as every day is different and interesting.
WHAT DO YOU DO OUTSIDE OF WORK?
During the lockdown, I was fortunate enough to be able to build a summer house in my garden, which I then made into a home bar. I enjoy spending time in the garden with family and friends, relaxing and spending quality time with them, so this was ideal. I also enjoy watching football and have supported the same team since childhood and my National Team.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE BAND/ALBUM?
U2 - Joshua Tree.
FAVOURITE PLACE TO EAT AND WHAT?
I am a very fussy eater, so home cooking is my favourite, especially, home made mince and potatoes with a side of peas.
WHAT IS YOUR PERSONAL MOTTO?
Always treat others the way you expect to be treated.
